"Twinkies in a Beignet World"
Last week, Mike Curtis (HD for Indies) and I were discussing books, DVDs and training tools for technology. I'm always looking for good ones but they're dang hard to find. Not to mention that software is always changing. I've been wanting Mike to do something on how to make the best independent HD film so I could buy it. Mike said that he had thought about it but the problem was that publishers wanted "Twinkies in a Beignet world." It made me laugh because I just finished my Interactive Photoshop Tutorial book and they've already released Photoshop CS2. (The changes are relatively minor with the exception of the Adobe Bridge -- which makes CS2 run at GLACIAL SPEEDS unless it's on a Dual G5 with the Tiger OS.)
Of course, the Beignet in this week's news is that Apple is Switching to Intel Chips! Holy horse hockey!! I was going to buy a G5 and now I'm thinking I better hold off and see what's going on. HD for Indies has some good insight and info on the impact for us dedicated Mac users. (FYI ... beignets must be eaten fresh ... unlike twinkies which last, theoretically, forever ... the technology field is totally beignet!)
More Shocking News on the Homefront Last month, my iPod shorted out and shocked me right off my chair -- leaving a burn on the bottom of my foot AND much swelling. Last week, I was adding new equipment to my office and ended up rocking the outlet that my computer -- and three firewire hard drives -- were on. I ended up blowing the logic board -- adios firewire ports. Thank Gawd the hard drives were okay -- the book was on them! Yesterday, Joan was trimming the hedges and cut through the extension cord -- shorting out the whole house. I can hardly wait to see what else we can blow up!
