Macs in the Movies at Apple Store, The Grove, Los Angeles

Macs in the Movies

Dan Halsted and Philip Hall from Camelot Pictures will be appearing at the Apple Store, The Grove, in Los Angeles to discuss how they use Apple computers and products to run an organized, efficient, wireless office.

Where: Apple Store, The Grove in Los Angeles
When: Friday, April 1st, 7:00 p.m

They will discuss how a GMAC server works with file sharing and multiple other computers. They have integrated iCal and Word to create a scheduling system. Entourage provides them with the ability to save emails and addresses for months which creates almost a library and tracking system that is really valuable in film. The aesthetic and design of the computers allow for an easy less cluttered office that can essentially be kept entirely on the computer (paperless office) and at the same time the office is portable in the sense that the ibooks can be moved anywhere and tap into most wireless networks. They will talk about how they use Excel to create meetings to schedule lists and tracking list for accounts receivables/payables.

Dan Halsted is a veteran in the Film Industry. He used to be an agent and started the Bauer Benedict Agency, which later became United Talent Agency. He then was a creative executive at Disney where after a few years left Disney and became producing partners with Oliver Stone at Xtlan Entertainment. A few Years ago Dan left Oliver Stone and joined forces with Gary Gilbert to form Camelot Pictures. Some of the films that he has produced are: VIRGIN SUICIDES, SWAT, GARDEN STATE, BEYOND BORDERS, ANY GIVEN SUNDAY, NIXON, THE ART OF WAR, WITCHBLADE for TNT and more.
