Spanish Cinema Now
From December 8 to 28, the Instituto Cervantes, will present the 13th annual “Spanish Cinema Now” film festival in cooperation with The Film Society of Lincoln Center. This year one of the highlights is a tribute to the celebrated director, screen writer and actor Fernando Fernán Gómez. This year’s “Spanish Cinema Now” highlights the best in contemporary Spanish film showcasing new releases by established directors like Saura, Gutiérrez Aragón, Ventura Pons and Felipe Vega, excellent films by young filmmakers such as Julio Medem, Gracia Querejeta, Iciar Bollain and Joaquin Oristrell as well as impressive debuts from promising directors Santi Amodeo, Pablo Carbonell and Xavier Bermúdez. In conjunction with screenings at the Instituto Cervantes and others at The Film Society of Lincoln Center’s Walter Reade Theater, the Instituto Cervantes will present an exhibition of photographs, film memorabilia and books chronicling his work.
