Films of 1980 at the Egyptian and Aero Theatres in LA

The American Cinematheque presents IT WAS 25 YEARS AGO...THE FILMS OF 1980, at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica (April 28 - May 4) and Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood (April 14 - 17). At the quarter century mark, it's a good time to take a closer look at a watershed year that saw mainstream Hollywood in full force with mega-hit comedies (THE BLUES BROTHERS), horror films (FRIDAY THE 13th) and a terrific, much-anticipated sequel (STAR WARS EPISODE V: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK) to one of the most successful films of all time.

Lo Fi Landscapes: Midwest Filmmakers' Regional and National Tour

Filmmakers Bill Brown and Thomas Comerford follow up their 2002 Lo Fi Landscapes Tour with a new program of films about the space of history and the history of spaces. These films explore how historical text becomes physical texture, and how filmmaking itself is memory recovered from landscape's amnesia. Their new tour will run from April 28 through June 17.
