"Bangladesh Idol" - Rags to Future Riches
Talk about Christmas surprise... A slumdweller by the name of Nolok Babu, 20, started singing in public after his father walked out when he was nine. He is expected to scoop the title, a prize of one million taka (15,000 dollars) and a new car, when the winner of Friday's final is announced on December 22. The show is called 'Tomakey Kujse Bangladesh (Bangladesh Looks for You), and attracted 40,000 entrants. It is the country's own version of the US hit television show "American Idol."
Seriously, you don't read that every day.
