I just want to throw this out there since I love the video game. I played the first and second Silent Hill games (I only finished the second). Silent Hill: The Room is just amazing. One of my favorite games of 2005. Anyway, the feature film version of the game will release nationwide in theatres on April 21, 2006.
To get things going, Sony's TriStar has a contest for the official movie poster that will be used in the campaign. There are five finalists and viewers can vote online at WelcomeToSilentHill.com. TriStar will unveil the winning poster on February 22, which will then be displayed in theaters across the country prior to the release of the film. The designer of the winning poster will receive $2500.

Here's a short descrip of the movie: The eerie and deserted ghost town of SILENT HILL draws a young mother desperate to find a cure for her only child's illness. Unable to accept the doctor's diagnosis that her daughter should be permanently institutionalized for psychiatric care, Rose (Radha Mitchell) flees with her child, heading for the abandoned town in search of answers -- and ignoring the protests of her husband (Sean Bean). It's soon clear this place is unlike anywhere she's ever been. It's smothered by fog, inhabited by a variety of strange beings and periodically overcome by a living Darkness that literally transforms everything it touches. As Rose searches for her little girl, she begins to learn the history of the strange town and realizes that her daughter is just a pawn in a larger game.
SILENT HILL is directed by Christophe Gans, written by Roger Avary and produced by Samuel Hadida and Don Carmody. Executive producers are Andrew Mason and Victor Hadida.
