Doc Linkage-"Teen" Marketing, "Carnivalesque," Another Grizzly, BritDoc

[Mark Rabinowitz]Here's a first of a periodic round up of some of the doc-related stories around the Internets. Some of them will, of course, have a little added Rabbi flavor for your reading pleasure!

Marketing American Teen: Paramount Vantage's Plan

The L.A. Times weighs in on Paramount Vantage's marketing plan for Nanette Burstein's upcoming release, American Teen.

Carnivalesque Launches DVD Label
Like something out of a Busby Berkeley/Mickey Rooney film, those wacky kids David Redmon and Ashley Sabin (Kamp Katrina, Intimidad) from Carnivalesque Films have launched a new DVD distribution label out of their new home base (and home of True/False Film Festival) Columbia, MO. Read more about it here on indieWIRE.com. (Incestuous, ain't we?)

Don't Look At The Bear....On Second Thought, Go Ahead, Take a Peek!
According to The Documentary Blog, Animal Planet is putting together a prequel of sorts to Werner Herzog's brilliant Grizzly Man. From the post: "Maybe a more straight-forward celebration of his life will satisfy those who felt Grizzly Man was a little too quirky and dark." Maybe. But maybe those people should just go sit in the corner with a baloney on white bread sandwich and call it a day.

Opinionated fucker, ain't I?

Nyman, Greenwood and Others Collaborate on BritDoc Shorts
Over at Still in Motion, Pamela has a little note about some of the goings on at the upcoming BritDoc, specifically collaborations between some short-form filmmakers and a few super accomplished composers, including Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood (There Will Be Blood) and Michael Nyman (The Piano, The Cook The Thief His Wife & Her Lover). The latter's one of my Facebook friends just cuz I sent him a gushing fan note about his Wonderland score. I'm a geek.
