Welcome!

Recently I found myself in a room of a few hundred of the most wonderful, quixotic people I could imagine. Where was I, you might ask. The monthly meeting of the Chicago Cubs World Series Winners? The weekly Dick Cheney Will Confess Club mixer? Nope. I was at Silver Docs in Silver Spring, MD at a party, a gathering of documentary filmmakers. To see so many people so deeply involved in something so seemingly Sisyphean, well, it almost brought tears to my eyes.

The thing is, it's not a lost cause and we are NOT endlessly pushing rocks up a hill only to see them fall down. With online outlets and handheld devices, growing cable TV networks and digital cinemas, there are more distribution chances for documentaries than ever before but we have to learn how to exploit them and (subtly) re-educate the public.
