18th Brouhaha Ready to Rumble

The 18th annual Brouhaha Film & Video Showcase, Central Florida’s premier outlet for in-state produced short films, is locked and loaded and ready for its closeup next weekend, December 5 & 6.  Over the course of Saturday and Sunday morning and afternoon, a total of 48 films will unspool in four completely different 85 - 90 minute programs, one starting at 11:00 AM and one at 1:30 PM each day.  The lineup includes nine of the monthly FilmSlam winners, selected works from independent submissions, and films curated by colleges, high schools, and film schools around the state who were invited to choose up to 20 minutes of their finest student projects and put their best foot forward.  All in all, nine schools participated and will be represented in the program:  University of Central Florida, University of South Florida, Florida State University, University of Miami, Full Sail University, Rollins College, Stetson Univeristy, Ringling College of Art & Design, and Dr. Phillips High School.

It’s an eclectic mix of cinematic visions, with everything under the sun represented in films from 2 minutes to 18 minutes in length—comedy, drama, narrative, documentary, horror, sci-fi, westerns, experimental, animation, and music videos too!  All films will be eligible to be chosen for the “Best of Brouhaha” program in the 2010 Florida Film Festival Florida Sidebar in April, so be sure to come root for your favorites and try to influence the judges.  A jury of local industry professionals will be on hand to view all programs at the same time as the audience, and all three are excited about the opportunity: Rave Mehta, CEO of Helios Entertainment; Justin Strout, Film Editor of the Orlando Weekly, and Robin K. Wright, President of Storyteller Entertainment and Women in Film & Televison, Florida.
