Hard to believe it's that time already, but here we are again. In case you missed it a couple of weeks ago, the 21st Annual Florida Film Festival (April 13 - 22, 2012) is officially open for submissions and Call for Entries are ready for action. April may seem like a long ways away, but before you know it, deadlines are hitting and you're rushing to overnight your entry and filling FedEx's pockets in late Fall. So relax, take your time, and consider submitting by the early entry deadline for a change. Submission forms and eligibility requirements can be found online at the official website, www.floridafilmfestival.com or directly through Without a Box at www.withoutabox.com/login/1139
For all American independent and international films, the submission deadlines are the following:
Shorts - October 21 (early), November 18 (late, additional fee required)
Features - November 4 (early), December 9 (late, additional fee required)
Once again we'll have an exclusive Extended Without a Box deadline that goes one week later for qualified applicants, but that's a lot more expensive and you only want to go there as a last resort. Remember that the FFF is accredited by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and the Festival's Grand Jury Award winners for both Best Narrative Short and Best Animated Short will automatically qualify for entry into the Live Action Short and Animated Short categories of the following year's Academy Awards.
It's been over 8 months since a festival submission has made its way into our eager little hands, and we're ready to get back to work. Send us your art! We're looking forward to seeing what's out there that's new, exciting, and original.
