The Inevitable Top 10 List

It's always a bit of a challenge and an incomplete exercise to come up with a 10 Best List when I feel like I've missed or haven't had the time to see everything I really need to--mostly "prestige" pictures with 4th quarter releases. This happens every year because there's simply not enough hours in the day to be able to stay on top of Florida Film Festival submissions and go check out all the films I'm interested in seeing at the other Central Florida "commercial" theaters. Here then, with the knowledge that there are probably many other titles that would qualify for this list if it was being done a few weeks later, are my Top 10 films in alphabetical order that I was fortunate to catch in 2010:

BLUE VALENTINE
EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP
THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT
THE KING'S SPEECH
PLEASE GIVE
A PROPHET
RABBIT HOLE
THE SOCIAL NETWORK
TOY STORY 3
WINTER'S BONE

Honorable Mentions: THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, GREENBERG, INCEPTION, LET ME IN, THE SECRET OF KELLS

And if you're curious and for my own shopping-list purpose of writing down the titles I've yet to see but would be at the top of the pile should I find a free spare hour or two (or five-and-a-half in one instance), here's a baker's dozen of what I still hope to catch up to, granted some sooner than later:

127 HOURS
ANOTHER YEAR
BLACK SWAN
CARLOS
DOGTOOTH
EASY A
THE FIGHTER
I LOVE YOU PHILLIP MORRIS
JOAN RIVERS: A PIECE OF WORK
LAST TRAIN HOME
SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD
THE TOWN
TRUE GRIT

Happy New Year!

That's a pretty good list. Haven't seen Blue Valentine or Rabbit Hole (yet. Hurry up and get them, Enzian!), or Kids Are All Right.

However, Black Swan and True Grit belong on any list. 127 Hours and The Fighter are good as well and would probably make any other year's list.

Joan Rivers was good, but definitely not Top 10 worthy.

I really need to see Dogtooth, too. Heard many good things about that one.
