Out to Stop "Fahrenheit 9/11"

StopMoore.jpgCalling Michael Moore's new film, "a political campaign advertisement against the war on terrorism, our troops and President Bush," a group of protestors are mobilizing online to stop the release of "Fahrenheit 9/11." MoveAmericaForward.org is targeting movie theaters where the film is set to open by encouraging supporters to contact theater owners and voice their disapproval.

“'Fahrenheit 9/11' should be shown as a recruiting video for Al-Qaeda, not in our movie theaters," reads the protest site. The group, which officially launched its effort today, claims responsibility for getting CBS to drop the recent miniseries "The Reagans".

Move America Forward calls itself "a non-partisan, not-for-profit organization committed to supporting America’s efforts to defeat terrorism and supporting the brave men and women of our Armed Forces," yet a review of the site's "About Us" page shows that organization head Howard Kaloogian is a former member of the state assembly in California and his board is filled with like-minded people, including self-described conservative SF radio host Melanie Morgan. Republican Kaloogian also led the movement to recall former CA governor Gray Davis. In his blog, Kaloogian wrote yesterday:

Michael Moore has the right to free speech. He has the right to make this movie. But, you know what? We, the American people, have a right to raise our objections to his crass anti-American jihad.

'Move America Forward' is nothing more than a front for a GOP-linked public relations firm, Russo Marsh and Rogers. Yet for some inexplicable reason, the fact that RM+R set up MAF is not mentioned anywhere on the MAF website! I can't imagine why...
