As the lights went down and the scroll of introductory text began this morning, cheers and wookie noises emanated from the large balcony of the Lumiere theater at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes. War. Evil is everywhere, emphasized the opening words of "Star Wars, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith", which I saw this morning. The film is a fast-paced, swiftly edited, spectacle of filmmaking and computer generated effects. If the cheers from the balcony are any indication, this film will undoubtedly satisfy the "Star Wars" faithful.

As I write this, I am seated inside the press conference room awaiting the arrival of George Lucas and cast, and I need some more time to process my opinions of the movie. More to come, with additional coverage soon on the indieWIRE @ Cannes blog.
