the formula for success

Writer William Goldman famously said about the film biz, "Nobody knows anything." Well, filmmakers hoping to strike it rich with can rely on a new formula for success that has already worked well twice. From an industry friend who finally saw "Little Miss Sunshine" over the weeked, that formula is:

quirky comedy + funny dance number at end + premiere at sundance + cinetic = big sell to fox searchlight

LMS has made nearly $15 million so far and shows no signs of slowing yet ("Napoleon Dynamite" made nearly $45 million two years ago).
