toronto '06 | the buzz

It won't be long, just a matter of 3 days in fact, before I'll be heading to Toronto for the 2006 edition of the beloved fest. While I recently bemoaned the sheer size of the lineup, after catching a few films in Telluride this weekend, and hearing the buzz on a few others, I feel a bit better. And actually, another reason is the a brief snapshot of buzz titles is Peter Howell's article in the Toronto Star today which surveys 24 biz, industry and festival people on their most anticipation fest films, yielding a list of 49 titles. He also included my list, so here it is:

Eugene Hernandez, editor-in-chief/co-founder, indieWIRE.com:
Kurt Cobain About A Son: "The life and times of one of my favourite artists, in his own words."
For Your Consideration: "The folks behind Best In Show take on indie filmmaking and awards season ... YES!"
Shortbus: "Okay, I already saw it in Cannes, but it's one of the boldest and most original American independent movies I've seen in quite a while. I plan to watch it again."
