So awards season prognosticating continues, with a whole 10 weeks to go before Oscar nominations are announced. David Carr surveyed the ongoing campaigning in a recent NY Times piece, focusing primarily on the East Coast attempts to charm "the Manhattan mentionocracy," described as, "a heaving mass of critics, reporters, film geeks and gossip columnists." So, with that in mind, the latest list of guesses from the Gurus o' Gold (including myself) has been updated at Movie City News. I'll be seeing "Dreamgirls" this week, so after that I think I'll be better able to judge its prospects. But, for now I decided to keep it at the #10 spot for best picture. Keep in mind, these predictions not necessarily my personal favorite films and performances, but a best guess at the state of the race as it evolves...
