no go for "go go"

The other day, on this blog, I referred to a recent screening of Abel Ferrara's "Go Go Tales" at the controversial New York International Independent Film and Video Film Festival, which would pre-date the film's scheduled screening at the New York Film Festival... well, it turns out that the film DID NOT screen at the NYIIFV. That fest is saying that they canceled the "Go Go" showing at the very last minute and instead screened the documentary "Odyssey in Rome" (about the making of Ferrara's "Mary"). They also wished him well on his upcoming "Go Go" screening at the NYFF...

Comments

As I've mentioned to you, Abel's friendship with NYIIVF head Stuart Alson goes back many years when other films of his have played at that dubious festival. It seems that wisdom prevailed and this time friendship took a back seat...so that NYFF could have their NY premiere of the film.
