toronto | "this generation's 'lawrence of arabia'?"

I felt a jolt of excitement today, while writing about the IFC deal for "Che." In particular, I was inspired by the tremendous enthusiasm coming from all those involved for the "roadshow" screenings that are in the works. The IFC and producer Laura Bickford (pictured right in Cannes with Soderberg and Del Toro) are evoking "Lawrence of Arabia" as the sort of event movie that they want to model. Should be quite an event.

"Che" is terrific, yet unconventional, with an exceptional lead performance by Del Toro. If it resonates, I won't be surprised if it becomes this year's "There Will Be Blood," in terms of critical acclaim (and potentially awards attention).
