da luz

Adjacent to São Paulo’s Pinacoteca do Estado museum is the city’s Parque da Luz. Travel guides tout the security of the park noting the ample presence of guards, but that doesn’t seem to bother the prostitutes. A short film about the park and its working girls was apparently a recent local fest hit. Personally, I was enamored with the prominent trees, sprouting roots that simply can’t be stopped by asphalt.

sao vito

Located near São Paulo’s Mercado Municipal downtown, the fifty year old Edificio São Vito (above and below) is apparently also called “Treme Treme,” because it sways. It was abandoned and is now a home for squatters.
