A few years ago, Nicole Kidman was sitting in a Nashville outpost of the coffee chain, reading the New York Times. Intrigued by the review of David Lindsay Abaire's play, she embarked upon a plan to make it into a movie, eventually enlisting John Cameron Mitchell to direct the film.
