Eagerly anticipated ahead of a rumored Toronto International Film Festival debut is "Body of War," a new Iraq war doc (trailer linked below) by former talk show host Phil Donahue and doc director Ellen Spiro ("Troop 1500"). The film's website describes the movie as the story of paralyzed Iraq veteran turned anti-war activist Tomas Young. He's a twenty-something who enlisted just days after President Bush's post-9/11 speech at Ground Zero, further described as, "a nakedly honest portrayal of what it’s like inside the body, heart and soul of this extraordinary and heroic young man."

Variety recently reported on industry buzz about the doc following recent screenings of the film at Donahue's Manhattan home (linked via Matt Denter's blog). Some who attended those showings told me that its brutally honest and moving. Doc insiders have been buzzing recently about the film's theatrical prospects and original songs from Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder should certainly boost its prospects. The musician talks about the movie in a clip posted on YouTube. Andrew Herwitz from The Film Sales Company is brokering deals for the movie.
