The latest Movie City News Oscar prognostication survey includes predictions for tonight's Golden Globes, the HFPA's awards show that means nothing and everything at the same time. Also posted at MCN is our group's latest predictions for the best picture race, ranking the 10 films we each see as contenders for the top Oscar (my ballot is below).

My interpretation is that overall people see "Babel" as on the rise... Clearly the Gurus see the film as dominating "The Departed" in the Golden Globes race and if it wins tonight, it will be interesting to see if they see it taking a higher position in the overall Oscar race.

In the gurus poll, why does "Babel" trounce "The Departed" for Best Drama, but in the Oscar race for Best Picture, "Babel" is far below "The Departed"?
