For much of the afternoon, film distributors were buzzing via IM and email about the short list for the films in the Oscar best documentary category. Filmmakers in the running were contacted by AMPAS today and the list will be officially unveiled tomorrow. With the caveat that I have independently confirmed only some -- but not all -- of the following titles, below are the films on insider lists making the rounds this evening.
UPDATED: Wednesday morning as the rumors continued I added a category for those I've personally confirmed as being on the AMPAS list:
CONFIRMED: "An Unreasonable Man," "Blindsight," "Can Mr. Smith Get to Washington Anymore?," "Deliver Us From Evil," "Jesus Camp," "Jonestown," "The Trials of Darryl Hunt," "Iraq In Fragments," "The War Tapes" UNCONFIRMED: "An Inconvenient Truth," "My Country My Country," "Shut Up and Sing," "The Ground Truth," "Sisters in Law" The complete list will be posted tomorrow (Wednesday) on indieWIRE.com and then we'll know for sure. ANOTHER UPDATE: The complete list is available now at indieWIRE.com.
