It turns out that 'apparition' is an appropriate name for the new company formed just one year ago by Bob Berney and Bill Pohlad. The company quickly appeared. But, is it now about to fade away? The fate of the outfit is in question in the wake of Berney's sudden departure from the company on the eve of the Cannes Film Festival this week.

Anne Thompson and I dropped by the Croisette apartment that the Berney family (Bob, Jeanne and Sean) are sharing here in France this week. While they were all set to work together repping Apparition with a team of others here in Cannes, now they are in town seeking for new opportunities. Over a bottle of rosé and a bowl of fresh cherries from the local market, we talked with Berney about the company and his recent departure (although there's a lot he still can't say as he negotiates his exit). He was quick to praise the work of his former business partner, Pohlad and also talked about the state of film distribution today.

The full story is on Thompson On Hollywood.

I'm just now looking at your blog and find this so moving, so apparition-like. Thanks. And I love your photos thus far!
