la film fest | a "crash" moment
Overheard upstairs at the Target Red Room (the LA Film Fest's hospitality suite) last night, three people are discussing the fest centerpiece film, "Quineanera" and a guy at the table is trying to describe the movie to his friends:
...its when a girl turns 13 or 14 or 15. It’s a really big deal here in LA -- its like a bat mitzvah. You see it on the news a lot...someone will get murdered. Because its all Hispanic, there's gang stuff involved...when you go over there, its sorta like you want to roll up your windows…
