Located near São Paulo's Mercado Municipal downtown, the fifty year old Edificio São Vito (above and below) is apparently also called "Treme Treme," because it sways. It was abandoned and is now a home for squatters.

I visited Sao Vito and Mercurio last spring. We met with the residents of Mercurio just days before they were evicted by the police. At the time, the city was planning was to demolish it and develop that area into a park. Any idea if this plan is still in progress?
