Last night's private dinner toasting the 20th anniversary of Strand Releasing was a nostalgic evening featuring a roomful of some of the best and brightest from a generation of American independent film. To salute Strand is to salute films and filmmakers spanning a generation of indie cinema and with 16 Sundance's under by belt, I felt honored and privileged to be in the room with such an illustrious group, many of whom have inspired my since I embraced American indie movies in college back in the late 80s. James Schamus set the tone with a rousing toast and Marcus Hu stirred sentiment with his emotional speech of gratitude.
Producer and Filmmaker Magazine editor Scott Macaulay snaps a shot of Hu, Schamus and Jon Gerrans at the dinner. More in today's Sundance Live dispatch on indieWIRE.com.
