Over at indieWIRE tonight, from a party in downtown New York City, Brian and I updated the Golden Globe winners as the evening progressed, while Peter weighed in from Canada.

At our NYC event, in a fabulous apartment apparently formerly owned by Rod Stewart, the crowd roared during Sally Hawkins speech, afraid that she might forget to mention MIke Leigh and concerned that she'd faint. Mickey Rourke also brought down the house, stumbling on stage, talking about his dog and also eliciting a "bird" from Darren Aronofsky. Throughout the show, friends at the show in LA texted back to the East Coast, reporting on a drunken scene inside the auditorium.

Folks at our Manhattan party seemed excited to see "Slumdog" win big. If there was any question that it will go the distance this year and win big on Oscar night, tonight may very well have put those doubts to rest. Unless we see a surge from "Benjamin Button"...

In our indieWIRE story tonight, Peter added some fun trivia, noting, "all of the acting winners were first time Globe winners (except Winslet, who technically had won previously for 'Reader' when she won for 'Road'). We apparently saw a nice bump in traffic on the new iW site, which was popular throughout its first full day online today. Looking forward to welcoming many more readers to the site tomorrow when the business day begins. Until then...
