A Christmas Holiday Oscar wish, but first...

In the wake of this week's Guru's o' Gold list (over at Movie City News), there's a micro debate happening online about which film is currently in the lead for Oscar. Eight of us say that "The Social Network" is at the head of the pack, while five pick "The King's Speech" as the front-runner. Some feel that critical acclaim and popular awareness is currently propelling the Facebook movie, while others counter that Oscar's older voters aren't swayed by such things.

Call me a consensus builder, but we're all basically in sync. The vast majority of Gurus see eight films as locks for one of the ten slots. Joining "Social" and "Speech" are "The Fighter," "Black Swan," "Inception," "Toy Story 3," "True Grit" and "The Kids Are Alright" to the roster.

In the meantime, David Poland also asked us to pick one Oscar Holiday gift. Mine involves "Uncle Boonmee."

Here's my list of ten tapped to score a Best Picture nomination (as of earlier this week), as well as the holiday wish.

BEST PICTURE PREDICTIONS
1. The Social Network
2. The King's Speech
3. Black Swan
4. The Fighter
5. True Grit
6. Inception
7. Winter's Bone
8. Toy Story 3
9. The Kid's Are Alright
10. Another Year
