2006 indieWIRE Blog Poll
2006 has been a terrific year: I got married. I accepted a job as Executive Director at IMAGE. I started writing a blog. I smiled on election day for the first time in recent memory. 2006 has been an awful year: The Steelers "won" the Super Bowl. I was "let go" from a job for the first time in my life. The U.S. "tanked" the World Cup. The "winner" of the Tour de France likely cheated. The war descended into chaos...the "War on Christmas," that is. 2006 has been a year of high expectations thwarted: Death of a President, Cars, A Prarie Home Companion, Superman Returns, For Your Consideration, Nacho Libre, Little Miss Sunshine, Jack Nicholson taking it over-the-top in The Departed. 2006 has been a year of pleasant surprises: Casino Royale (Best Bond ever?), Sacha Baron Cohen blew up in two of the year's top grossing films Borat & Talladega Nights. 2006 has been a busy year and I've missed many of the films I wanted to see: Dreamgirls, Letters from Iwo Jima, Shortbus, Marie Antoinette, The Inland Empire, Blood Diamond, Happy Feet, Apocolypto, Jackass: Number Two, Pursuit of Happyness, The Good German, The Good Shepherd, Fast Food Nation, Venus, Curse of the Golden Flower, Little Children, The History Boys, Stranger Then Fiction...By the time I send in my "Top Ten" next week, I will have seen some of these.
