Producer Will Packer, a former board member of IMAGE in Atlanta, was named one of Variety Magazine's "10 Producers to Watch" and will be honored at a swank party at the Toronto Film Festival.

From the article by Matthew Ross:
"Until last year, Atlanta-based Will Packer was one of the most successful producers that few mainstream industryites had never heard of. That all changed when "Stomp the Yard," a drama about a step-dancer at a black college, marched its way to $61 million at the U.S. box office. Now, after years of working in mainstream obscurity, Packer has quickly established himself as a player."
Of course, we've known about Mr. Packer for a long time in Hot-lanta! From Chocolate City and The Gospel to Stomp the Yard and this Christmas's This Christmas Atlantans have been keenly aware of the emerging powerhouse that is Rainforest Films, which along with Tyler Perry Studios, has turned a steady little stream of production into a surging river.
In recognition of his career (thus far!), IMAGE honored Will Packer this past spring at the Annual IMAGE Awards Gala (alongside John Sayles and Maggie Renzi).

It's about time the rest of the country took notice.
