I've been receiving Tyler Perry's weekly emails for on about a year now. They are miraculous.
Those who don't get them should sign up today. Those who do, already got this.
Usually, Mr. Perry focuses on personal, anecdotes that veer into the inspirational and spiritual.
This week, he was moved to speak about the presidential election...
"PEOPLE we have got to get registered to vote! This country can’t take another 4 years of this. I
have never been a political person. I have lived in Atlanta for 15 years
and have never registered to vote. I had never been moved to. I know the
press is going to tear me apart for telling the truth here but, whatever!
I just turned 39 (smile).
I, like a lot of people, thought that it wouldn’t matter if I voted or
not. They were going to do what they wanted to do anyway. That was so
irresponsible of me, and I’m ashamed to even say it. But the truth of the
matter is, a lot of people feel the same way that I do. I have to tell
you, I WAS SO WRONG! Please get registered to vote. WE can change this
country. People are starving and hungry and I heard John McCain say that
the economy was in good shape. WHAT?!! Yeah it’s in great shape if you’re
rich, but what about the people who are not rich? That’s the attitude that
we must get rid of.
It will be so great having a president in the White House who knows the
true struggles of single mothers, who knows the true pains of real people.
People who don’t need a handout, but a JOB! People who don’t want the
government to pay their mortgage but they need a JOB to pay it themselves.
So I’m proud to say I am now an active registered voter. And, if you’re
not, I hope you will become one too. Especially if you live in Michigan or
Ohio. AND WE CANNOT FORGET FLORIDA! As a matter of fact I will be in Miami
I ain’t having that foolishness that we had a few years back down there in
the great state of Florida. As a matter of fact, Madea is doing the
Those of you who have been getting my emails know that I have never done
anything like this before. I respect your time. I don’t sell your email
address and I certainly don’t take any money to send you an email. Not now
nor will I ever. So you know this is important to me. As it should be
important to us all. I’m voting for Obama.
I will say it here--and mark my words:
Because of this endorsement, Mr. Obama will win the presidency... Handily.
I suggest Mr. Obama appoint Madea to direct the ATF...
But in all seriousness, THANK YOU MR. PERRY!
This endorsement means more to this campaign than the mainstream press will ever know.
