Last night I went to the New York premiere of Sundance hit "Super Size Me." I had met the film's charming director (and guinea pig) Morgan Spurlock in Sundance briefly, but had missed seeing the film until last night. I was scared it might not live up to the hype... but for me it was even better than expected. It's really hilarious and also thought-provoking -- I actually think it's a better doc than megahit "Bowling for Columbine." In the film, Spurlock eats nothing but McDonald's food for 30 days and tracks his health decline...scary stuff. Since McDonald's is the closest "restaurant" to my apartment, I won't say I'll never eat there again, but I sure will never look at that food the same way again. Images of a dried up Filet o Fish and also Spurlock's vomited up quarter pounder value meal will haunt my dreams. The flick opens on May 7, so everyone MUST go see it. And also Morgan is a fellow indieWIRE blogger, he's got some hilarious posts about the film and all his stories from the road as he promotes the film. Oh, and they served those fab little Pop burgers at the premiere after-party, so that's another reason to love this film.
