Tackling Ulysses?
Perhaps it's not the best beach reading but I've always wanted to tackle James Joyce's "Ulysses" -- in part because my birthday (June 16, start shopping!) is Bloomsday, the day the book takes place. With June 16, 2004 marking my 30th year, and the 100th anniversary of Bloomsday, I think it's high time I actually read the book. But tackling it alone will be not as fun (and more confusing). So is there anybody out there who'd like to join me in reading it this summer? If we're scattered in various locales, we could do an online book group. If we're all in NYC, we can do it at an Irish pub. Any takers? Ask your friends, or let me know if you're aware of any existing "Ulysses" reading groups that I can jump into... (and please excuse my literary lapse on the blog...I'll get right back to mindless party chatter and celebrity sightings ASAP) Posted by indiewendy at 10:32AM on May 12, 2004

I will join that Ulysses-reading group please!!!!! It's meant to be read after 5 Guinnesses. Clarifies the warbling language like magic! Posted by Caroline on May 12, 2004 at 10:32AM I'll come along for more bits and pieces. It's meant to be read aloud in a slight Dublin accent (which I can -- and do -- do in my sleep) but the porter'd be no harm too. So, yes, yes, and again yes....!
