Amazon Theater/Tribeca Film Festival Short-Film Competition Finalists Announced

The five finalists of the Amazon Theater/Tribeca Film Festival Short-Film Competition were announced this week. Filmmaker finalists David Cumbo, James Seale, Jason Rice, Stephanie Green and Kenneth Beaumont will now compete for a grand prize of $50,000 to fund their next project. The winner will be announced on Wed., June 29 in NYC.

The finalists were determined by Amazon.com customers who submitted ratings on more than 2 million minutes of film footage between April 15 and May 20. Once again, Amazon.com customers will rate the five finalists' films over the next four weeks:

"Fragile," by David Cumbo: Appearing May 27-30
An animated psychological journey of a young child coping with the death of his older sibling.
 
"Post Traumatic," by James Seale: Appearing, May 31-June 5
An homage to the classic conspiracy thrillers of the 1970s, a soldier returns home from the war in Iraq to find himself being followed by shadowy CIA types.

"Street Therapy," by Jason Rice: Appearing June 6-11
Gritty and personal, a homeless man offers his fellow NYC residents an outlet for their frustrations...for a small fee of course.
 
"Push Hands," by Stephanie Green: Appearing June 12-17
Set in contemporary Ireland, a teenage graffiti artist and a Chinese Tai Chi master must learn to share the same beach.
 
"The Connection," by Kenneth Beaumont: Appearing June 18-23
A touching and often humorous “romance” in which a young man meets the girl of his dreams at a lonely bus stop.
