Cyrus Kar, an Iranian born, naturalized American citizen who has been living in the US since age 2, attended college in California, and served in the United States Navy and Naval Reserve, has been detained in Iraq by the American military since mid-May. Kar was in Iraq to shoot his first documentary film about an ancient Persian King. He has not been charged of any crime and has been unable to contact his family.
