Bob Weinstein today announced that Matthew Stein has been named senior vice president of production for Dimension Films at The Weinstein Company. Stein will continue to work at Miramax, in his current position as vice president of production for Dimension Films, through September 30, segueing to a full-time employee with The Weinstein Company as senior vice president of production on Oct. 1, 2005, when the Weinsteins’ separation from Disney is complete. He will report to both Richard Saperstein, recently appointed executive vice president and head of production for Dimension Films, and Bob Weinstein.
Stein will oversee the day-to-day production and development of the studios annual slate of films and acquisitions and will be based in New York. He will continue to work closely with writers and filmmakers to develop projects for the studio. "Matt is incredibly creative and talented and has been a key member of the Dimension team,” said Bob Weinstein. “I am thrilled that he will be continuing to work with us at our new company in an expanded role. “
Since the separation agreement, the Weinsteins’ have acquired the following other titles to be released by The Weinstein Company: "Decameron," "Last Legion," "Young Hannibal," “Hoodwinked! The True Story of Red Riding Hood,” “Transamerica,” “Nomad,” “Outlander,” “Stormbreakers,” “Lucky Number Slevin,” and “The Promise.” Other titles to be released by The Weinstein Company include “Derailed,” “Wolf Creek.” “Mrs. Henderson Presents,” “Kill Bill:NC 17,” “Breaking and Entering,” Scary Movie 4,” “Matador,” “Sin City 2,” “Pulse,” “Passion of The Clerks,” “Come Closer,” “Unknown,” and "Grind House," a film that will unite Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez, who will each write and direct their own 60-minute feature horror film.
