Scarcely a year after Marlon Brando's death at 80, the detritus of his fiercely guarded private life continues to bubble to the surface. In June there was an auction of his personal effects, a grab bag of bizarre and often silly objects that included both his Foosball table and a plastic bagel with a plastic cockroach inside. Now there is another odd blast from his past - "Fan-Tan," a film treatment-turned-novel about pirates in the South Seas that he wrote in the 1970's with a filmmaker, Donald Cammell.
