2006 Sundance Film Festival call for entries

The 2006 Sundance Film Festival has announced its call for submissions for both dramatic and documentary features, and short film entries. Submission forms can be completed directly online at the official Sundance Institute website. The 2006 Sundance Film Festival will be held January 19-29 with screenings in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Sundance, Utah.

Deadlines to submit U.S. and International films for the 2006 Sundance Film Festival are:
August 19, 2005 - Early Registration
September 2, 2005 - Short Films
September 16, 2005 - Dramatic and Documentary Feature Films

Completed U.S. and international feature-length and short films may be submitted and must arrive in the Los Angeles office by August 19 for early consideration and a reduced submission fee.

The American Feature Film Competition is open to independently produced dramatic and documentary feature-length films. In order to be considered for the Festival’s Feature Film Competition for U.S. films, submitted films must be world premieres. Complete information and eligibility requirements are also available online. In order to be eligible for Competition, in addition to entries being world premieres, they must have at least 50 percent U.S. financing, and must have been completed after October 2004. The running time for dramatic features must be no less than 70 minutes, and documentary features must be no less than 50 minutes. All films submitted for the American Feature Film Competition are also considered for participation in out of competition sections and have included the non-competitive categories such as Spectrum, Frontier, and Park City at Midnight categories.

International submissions are considered for participation in the World Dramatic Competition, World Documentary Competition, and the non-competitive categories such as Spectrum, Frontier and Park City at Midnight. To be eligible for competition, films must be U.S. premieres and must have been completed after October 2004. The running time for dramatic features must be no less than 70 minutes, and documentary features must be no less than 50 minutes.

Short dramatic films under 70 minutes in length and short documentary films less than 50 minutes are eligible for participation in the Shorts Program and Frontier categories. American short films under 35 minutes in length compete for the Jury Prize in Short Filmmaking. International short films under 30 minutes in length are eligible for the Jury Prize in International Filmmaking.
