American Express is providing filmmakers a chance to pitch an idea for a short film to be produced for the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival. The contest, My Movie Pitch, will allow aspiring filmmakers to upload sixty second dream movie pitches to www.amexfilm.com. Five finalists will be chosen by viewers and a panel of Tribeca director alums: Brian Hill, Dev Benegal, Julien Kemp, Måns Herngren, Tarik Saleh, Jacob Tierney, David Russo, Jac Schaeffer, Julien Nitzberg, Mat Whitecross and Josh Appignanesi. The grand prize winner, after being selected by the panel, will have their pitch made into a fifteen minute short directed by one of the Tribeca directors. The winner will also receive a trip for two to New York City and VIP access to the film's Tribeca screening.
The festival will take pitch submissions in their first cycle from May 27 to June 24, and voting will run from June 25 to July 24. The judges will finish their deliberations for the first round August 8, 2010. The second cycle of the contest will run from August 15 through October 30. The final grand prize decision will be made December 1, 2010.
