Cinetic Rights Management (CRM), a leading supplier of content for Video on Demand and digital outlets, and MPI Media Group, one of the largest independent movie producers and distributors, have announced an agreement that gives MPI U.S. DVD distribution rights for CRM FilmBuff titles.
The first film to be released under the new agreement will be "Collapse," a new documentary by Chris Smith about radical thinker Michael Ruppert. A former Los Angeles police officer turned independent reporter, Ruppert, who years ago predicted the current financial crisis in his self-published newsletter, expounds in "Collapse" on his apocalyptic vision of the future of America and the world, spanning the crises in economics, energy, the environment and more.
"FilmBuff has been a key player in placing quality independent films into digital media and VOD," MPI's Malik Ali said of the agreement in a statement. "We are very pleased to be working with FilmBuff in extending their unique brand into the retail consumer space. MPI is confident that these brave and vital films and programs will be strong performers in the DVD marketplace for many years to come."
"We are excited to form a partnership with a distributor as experienced and successful as MPI, a company that has a long history of bringing entertaining and influential titles to the public", said FilmBuff's Debra Fisher, in a statement. "FilmBuff titles will benefit from MPI's deep expertise in the DVD market and the opportunity to extend their reach to new audiences."
The deal was announced today by Malik Ali, founder and CEO of MPI Media Group, and Debra Fisher, Head of Ancillary Sales, FilmBuff.
