The National Film Board of Canada (NFB) announced that the winner of its 6th NFB Online Short Film Contest is Jon Dunleavy and Keith Wilson-Singer's "Crash! Bang! Wallow?" According to a synopsis from the NFB, the winner is an "animated film that tells the tale of ex-Hollywood stuntman Larry LeTan and his fight to find a place in the modern world." The UK filmmakers will receive a digital camera/HD video camera and a laptop computer.
The online contest generated more than two million views for the ten films in competition over the contest's fourteen days, a monumental 1000% increase over last year's numbers. The runners-up, from second place to fourth, are: "Love and Theft" by Andreas Hykade (Germany), "The Technician" by Simon-Olivier Fecteau (Canada), and "The Story of My Life" by Pierre Ferrière (France). The winning film can be seen on the NFB's YouTube page until June 20 here. [Bryce Renninger]
