Investigation Discovery has announced the acquisition of Joshua Zeman and Barbara Brancaccio's "Cropsey," setting a fitting premiere broadcast date of Friday, August 13 for the eerie and compelling documentary. In "Cropsey," Zeman and Bracaccio attempt to unravel the true story behind the disappearances of five children in Staten Island and the real life boogeyman linked to the unsolved mysteries from the filmmakers' childhoods. The film has had a successful run on the film festival circuit and will open theatrically at the IFC Center on June 4, with additional screenings to follow in Staten Island, Los Angeles, Denver, Austin, and Boston through Cinema Purgatorio. VOD will commence on July 2. The broadcast deal was brokered by Josh Braun of Submarine and Evan Krauss of Gray, Krauss & Des Rochers on behalf of the filmmakers. [Basil Tsiokos]
