Two of 2009's breakout filmmakers - "Precious" director Lee Daniels and "Sin Nombre" director Cary Fukunaga are each eyeing diverse follow-up products.
Variety is reporting that Daniels would helm what would be producer Paula Wagner's first film producing project since leaving the CEO slot at United Artists in 2008 - a screen version of musical “Miss Saigon." Daniels reps say it’s one of several possible next projects, but Wagner is moving quickly under her newly formed Chestnut Ridge Productions banner.
Also at Variety is news that Fukunaga is in advanced negotiations to direct a feature adaptation of Charlotte Bronte's "Jane Eyre" for British company Ruby Films. Moira Buffini has written the script for the film, which Ruby Films' co-toppers Alison Owen and Paul Trijbits are producing "Jane Eyre" with BBC Films.
