E1 Entertainment has signed a deal with River Road Entertainment to bring to Canada the much-buzzed Sundance film "The Runaways" and Terrence Malick's new film "The Tree of Life." Floria Sigismondi's "The Runaways" stars Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning in a rock tribute to the SoCal band that spawned hundreds of other all-girl bands. "The Tree of Life" brings Malick back to the big screen for the first time since 2005's "The New World." "Tree," which stars Brad Pitt and Sean Penn, chronicles a family dealing with love, loss, and foregiveness.
In a statement, David Reckziegel, co-president of E1’s Canadian Film business said, “We are extremely pleased to be working with River Road on the Canadian release of these two wonderful films. Bill Pohlad and the River Road team have consistently delivered quality films that have a unique voice that resonates with audiences. E1’s objective to secure the finest films is accomplished by aligning ourselves with such talents”.
