The International Emerging Film Talent Association and the Ethiopian Film Initiative have joined forces to bring a group of young filmmakers from Ethiopia to Cannes for the first time. The young filmmakers are serving as ambassadors of their country's burgeoning film industry while also being exposed to the opportunities Cannes has to offer for international networking and potential future collaborations. This initiative is part of IEFTA's Global Film Expression program, supporting emerging filmmakers in developing nations through conferences and training workshops. The Monaco based IEFTA has also announced its partnership with a new monthly film series in Monte Carlo, Cinema for Environment, focusing on biodiversity concerns, with titles such as “An Inconvenient Truth,” “The 11th Hour,” “The Cove,” “Encounters at the End of the World,” and “Mondovino” slated to screen. IEFTA will produce content for the series through their Global Film Expression initiative. [Basil Tsiokos]
