HBO has acquired U.S. TV rights to "Precious Life," an Israeli documentary from the same producer as "The Band's Visit." A document of attempts by Israeli and Palestinian doctors to save the life of a 4-month-old Gazan boy born without an immune system, "Precious Life" is an official selection of the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival and was directed by Israeli broadcast journalist Shlomi Eldar.
"We are very excited that HBO believes in the film and we can’t imagine any other company releasing 'Precious Life,'” said producer Ehud Bleiberg.
HBO plans to air the film on TV next year. [by Micah Sachs]
