Lance Hammer's critically acclaimed "Ballast" will get an overdue DVD release November 10, courtesy of Kino.
Nearly a year after being hailed as "best first feature" in indieWIRE's 2008 critic's poll, Hammer's film--which he distributed himself for its theatrical run--will be released in both Blu-ray and standard DVD editions. Among the extras will be "Ballast Scene Development," which Kino describes as a "37-minute making-of feature charting the evolution of several scenes through the improvisational conflict sessions and two-month rehearsal process that gave form to the final film," and an essay on the film by critic Amy Taubin.
