MPI Media Group today announced it has acquired all North American rights to Michele and Kieran Mulroney "Paper Man," a comedy-drama starring Jeff Daniels, Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone, and Lisa Kudrow. A late spring theatrical release is anticipated for the film to be followed by DVD and VOD releases. "Paper Man" is a co-production of FilmColony, Film 360 the production division of Management 360, and Artfire Films. The distribution deal was negotiated by Greg Newman, executive vice president of MPI Media Group.
The film is described as "the coming-of-middle-age story of Richard Dunn (Daniels), a writer caught between the pressures of deadlines, the expectations of his wife (Kudrow) and the constant presence of the superhero (Reynolds) who has lived inside his head since second grade. And then he meets a girl -- a Long Island teenager (Emma Stone) whose friendship shows Richard that no matter how much it hurts, it’ s never too late to grow up."
Directors Michele and Kieran Mulroney are currently writing the sequel to Warner Bros. "Sherlock Holmes" and a project for director Ron Howard and Imagine Entertainment. They also wrote WB's upcoming "Justice League, Sleeping Father and Equals." "Paper Man" marks their directorial debut.
