“Precious” wins in Chicago

At the Chicago International Film Festival, Lee Daniels’ “Precious” was the big winner with attendees, nabbing the audience award at the event today.

“Like everyone else who’s seen it, I was left absolutely shattered by ‘Precious’,” fest founder and artistic director Michael Kutza said, in a statement. “We were proud to honor both director Lee Daniels and actress Gabourey Sidibe at the Festival this year, and we’re thrilled that the Chicago audience responded so well to the film.”

The runner-up for the prize was Lone Scherfig’s “An Education.”
